Six weeks after Microsoft Corp. Chairman Bill Gates declared war on security flaws in the company's products, the Redmond software maker has taken some key first steps in its struggle, security experts say.
And rank-and-file employees say awareness of security is becoming pervasive.
Microsoft is putting Windows developers through mandatory security training, requiring them to take personal responsibility for the code they write and reconsidering vulnerable features in its products.
But some experts remain skeptical about both the company's sincerity and its chances for success.
