PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The local PETROLEOS DE VENEZUELA SA is currently gearing-up to expand the production capacity of one of its of El Palito oil refinery located on the Caribbean Sea. As a result, the company recently awarded the upgrade contract to Japan-based TOYO ENGINEERING CORP. (TEC).
According to the terms of the award, TEC will be responsible for overseeing the entire project from detailed planning to test operation. Work is to focus on expanding the output capacity of a process known as fluid catalytic cracking, which is used to refine and extract components from residual oil.
