PROJECT OVERVIEW:
US-based TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC. (TI) has been operating an electronics manufacturing plant in the northern resort city of Baguio in the Philippines for the past 15 years. And, the company was recently offered job-creating incentives including reduced income tax and duty-free importation of capital equipment. As a result, TI subsequently decided that it would invest $65,000,000 in order to expand its Filipino operations.
Upgrade plans under consideration would reportedly involve increasing its quad flat pack (QFP) production volume. The product in question is a packaging solution used in the production of integrated circuits.
