David Brenner has committed three of stand-up comedy's biggest sins and survived to talk about it.
First, the veteran comic, appearing at the Comedy Connection in Faneuil Hall tonight and tomorrow, virtually disappeared from the scene for most of the early '90s. Then, he took over Larry King's radio show for a couple of years, which limited his comedy to weekend gigs.
Finally, when he officially announced his full-time return to comedy with a splashy and totally live HBO special a couple of years ago, he dramatically changed his style of humor.
Stick a fork in Brenner, he should be done.
