WESTCHESTER - Last year Baron Davis carried the UCLA basketball team. This year he's lugging the Charlotte trainer's black medical kit. The Bruins? They weren't heavy, they were his brothers. But Terry Kofler's black bag is a load.
Davis was almost out the gym door after the Hornets' practice Thursday at Loyola Marymount when Kofler corralled him. "Hey, Baron, you take this one," he said, pushing in Davis's path a bag big and bulky enough to be holding a corpse.
Davis picked the bag up without complaint, the way it says to in the unofficial NBA rookie handbook, and dragged it toward the bus.
