Night owl-ery can be a curse, a blessing or sometimes a little bit of both.

Cartoonist Tom Toles is often awake in the middle of the night, frequently worrying about the subject of the next editorial cartoon he'll produce.

Ultimately, it's not the most productive type of insomnia, since the wee hours are not when the political cartooning ideas start to flood the brain of Toles, who won a Pulitzer Prize in the field. At times like these, his mind is drifting in other more peculiar directions.
