It's what he doesn't play that counts.
Widely imitated and sought-after for a style that marries the abstract and conventional, guitarist, composer and bandleader Bill Frisell's sound is immediately recognizable. His spare, atmospheric approach to the fretboard seemingly leaves out as many notes as he plays.
In a career that spans more than 20 years and around 80 albums, Frisell has contributed to the work of such diverse artists as Elvis Costello, Ginger Baker, Marianne Faithfull, Hal Willner and many others.
