EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE - Parents' repeated requests for an Air Force Junior ROTC program at Desert High School are being answered.
A Junior ROTC program is scheduled to start next fall at Desert, thanks to increased funding released by Congress.
``The interest at our particular school has been long-standing,'' said Muroc Joint Union School District Assistant Superintendent Mike Summerbell, who was formerly principal at Desert. ``There was not a year that went by when my parent groups would not be asking me, 'How come we don't have a junior ROTC on campus?; When will we get a junior ROTC on campus?'
