WHAT happens if you are due to go skiing but there's been no snow? Make your own.
Well, not you exactly but, after the worst snow drought since the late 1980s, many resorts, until last week, were relying on the artificial white stuff.
Five million euros have been spent in the Italian Dolomites alone on ferrying gallons of water to the slopes of San Martino di Castrozza and blasting it into the freezing cold air. Heavy investment in batteries of sophisticated snow cannons means there is enough on the slopes for modest demands.
