Ed Waterstreet did, which is why he set about reconceiving ``A Streetcar Named Desire'' for his Deaf West Theatre Company in North Hollywood.
In Deaf West's new production, which is running through April 9, the protagonists' failure to communicate takes on an even deeper metaphoric layering than is usual for Tennessee Williams' hothouse masterpiece.
