Modem chip sets Like all application-specific ICs, new modem chip sets have higher levels of integration and lower prices than last year's models. Evolving modem chips also implement features defined by the CCITT (International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee) standards committees that considerably raise the state of the art for modems.
