Chrysotile asbestos represents little health hazard, study says

WASHINGTON - Hvac contractors who were thinking about getting into the potentially lucrative asbestos removal business may want to think again.

Asbestos in public schools isn't nearly the health hazard it was earlier thought to be. And the billions of dollars that schools must spend to get rid of the material may be wasted. That's the bottom line from a new study by five scientists.

"Clearly, the asbestos panic in the U.S. must be curtailed," said the study.
