The purpose of this study is to test the effectiveness of glucosamine sulfate, chondroitin sulfate, and glucosamine/chondroitin sulfate combo on joint cartilage of A/J mice. The researcher conducted a microscopic examination of the joints. The researcher was able to stain the prepared slides with Eosin Y. Slides stained with Eosin Y were used to examine the health of the cartilage. The researcher rated the cartilage on a scale of 1-3. The researcher also stained prepared slides with Safranin 0. This stain detects if there is any chondroitin sulfate found in the cartilage. The more chondroitin sulfate found in the cartilage, the brighter red the stain appeared. The ...
