The freezer trawler Klondyke was tied up dockside, taking on fuel and provisions in anticipation of soon putting out to sea for another long trip. The pace of life at France's biggest fishing harbor -- where annually 55,000 tons of marine products are landed; 500,000 tons pass through in transit to inland destinations; and some 300,000 tons are further-processed -- showed no sign that anything was out of the ordinary.
