Nancy Cox and her daughter went to Garfield Farm in LaFox Sunday to learn about bats and to build a potential new home for the flying mammals.
"They aren't going to come to our little house," the pessimistic Cox said, looking over their nearly completed bat box.
But some splintered wood and a couple of bent nails didn't keep the Lilly Lake mother and her 10-year-old daughter, Laura, from getting the most out of their first woodworking experience.
