IN more ways than one, Encino's Ernie Van Leeuwen is truly a marathon man.
When he laces up his sneakers for Sunday's Los Angeles Marathon, it will be his sixth time running the grueling, 26.2-mile course.
Not too shabby for a man who has already run a marathon of a life. Van Leeuwen is 88.
And he doesn't only run the L.A. Marathon, he excels in it. He has won the race's 80-98 age category five times. That's on top of the 100 or so medals and trophies he has racked up in shorter races.
Talk about an inspiration!
