PASADENA, Calif. -- Calling for effective strategies to prevent crime and violence, California Attorney General Bill Lockyer and California Health and Human Services Agency Secretary Grantland Johnson met today with more than 300 criminal justice and public health experts, community leaders, policy makers, and law enforcement representatives to discuss significant research on why violence and crime dropped in the 1990s. The two-day symposium, "Violence & Crime in California: From Evidence to Policy" is the first of a two-part effort sponsored jointly by the California Attorney General's Office and the Health and Human Services Agency.
