Membership in the American Society of Cinematographers, the association of motion picture cameramen, is by invitation only. Yet one actor's name is on the ASC rolls: Gregory Peck. Peck's lifetime honorary membership is a reflection, I believe, of just how highly he is regarded by the motion picture industry.
This bit of movie minutia is not to be found in Gary Fishgall's new biography of Peck. Not to worry. The author's tightly _ albeit somewhat dryly _ written account contains ample testimony to Peck's reputation and bedrock work ethic.
