L.A. paper to buy Lakeside Back Country Trader
The publicly held owner of a Los Angeles daily newspaper has signed an agreement to buy the Lakeside-based Back Country Trader.
Ethel Elkins, current owner and publisher of the East County community newspaper, maintained that a sale is not necessarily imminent.
But Gerry Salzman, publisher of the Los Angeles Daily Journal and president of the Daily Journal Corp., said both parties have signed a sales agreement. He said he expects to finalize the purchase by Dec. 31. Neither Elkins nor Salzman would disclose a sales price.
