Champagne is for romance. As the English playwright George Etherege once wrote, a glass or two "recovers languishing lovers, [making] us frolic ." That's why couples everywhere will be toasting themselves with champagne tomorrow. It's the world's favorite wine on Valentine's Day.
But which champagne? No matter whether your plans call for picking up a bottle in a wine shop or ordering one from a restaurant list, the different styles, names and prices of champagnes can make buying bubbly bewildering.
