Start at the beginning when you are looking for a new laboratory information system. Ask what you want the system to do for you, not what you need to do to a system to make it work. Look at systems just like you would a potential employee. Would you hire them with their present qualifications? Or is there another system that meets your needs out of the box? Identify the major issue in your lab that you hope to solve, then look for the system that can do that for you. Or, find the vendor that will accommodate your needs by customizing features.
Deal maker or breaker
