The developer that has won a two-way scramble to build a new upscale supermarket in Armonk has ruled out as a tenant the only grocery chain now doing business in the hamlet.

Armonk developer Michael Fareri says he has not considered The Food Emporium as a tenant for the 45,000-square-foot supermarket he plans to build on Old Route 22, where the former Armonk Bowl now stands.

Instead, he said, he plans to lease the space to one of several other chains with which he has talked in recent months. His first choice: D'Agostino Supermarkets, though The Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. remains a possibility for the 6.8-acre site, left vacant since Armonk Bowl closed ...
