When it comes to harmony in the workplace, there are few sounds that match the synchronicity of a family working together. The unique personality of a family business, which is invariably created by the business family that owns it, can be the business' greatest strength and an inspiration to others.
The flip side of this highly personal culture can be the kind of familiarity that can only come from a parent-child, sibling or other family relationship. This can be particularly apparent when it's time to find a way to transfer ownership and management to the next generation.
