Royal High swimmer Christine Creek, talented enough to compete in the U.S. Spring Nationals this year, easily could have blown off her high school team's quest to win its first Marmonte League title since 1982.
But Creek wouldn't even let her recovery from pneumonia stand in the way of leading the Highlanders to the league championship Friday at Rancho Simi Park.
The Highlanders held hands and screamed when the results were announced, but it was a fairly anticlimactic ending for those who followed the entire meet. Led by Creek's victories in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke, Royal totaled 504 ...
