David Tudor was an American musical pioneer.
A leading avant-garde pianist and experimental composer of live electronic music who worked closely with the likes of John Cage, his work became a catalyst for significant artist innovations of the 1960s and '70s.
Today the Getty Research Institute and the California Institute of the Arts School of Music begin a three-day commemoration of Tudor's artistic life. He died in 1996.
