GLENDALE - Responding to allegations of deficiencies at the Glendale Humane Society animal shelter, city officials have ordered an internal audit of their animal control contractor.
City Manager Jim Starbird announced late Tuesday that an audit will be launched next week to evaluate whether the Humane Society has complied with its contract with the city and followed the best practices in caring for animals. The audit is scheduled to be completed in mid-July.
``The city needs to know whether they are living up to the contract,'' Councilman Rafi Manoukian said.
