President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo defended anew yesterday the Balikatan exercises as a means to wipe out the Abu Sayyaf and end their atrocities and exploitation of Filipinos particularly the women.
Speaking at the 79th commencement exercises of the Philippine Women's University in Manila, the President accused the Abu Sayyaf terrorists of raping and physically abusing their woman hostages.
Arroyo said deployment of 660 US troops helping to train the Armed Forces of the Philippines crush the Abu Sayyaf will help end the terrorists' exploitation of women.
