A west-side middle school for children now bused to Park View Middle School downtown will be the first campus built under the $29 million bond issue passed by voters.
The $13 million Amargosa Creek Middle School at 27th Street West and Avenue J will alleviate problems caused by the lack of a neighborhood middle school for pupils west of the Antelope Valley Freeway, Lancaster School District officials said Wednesday.
``We just don't have a middle school on the west side of town,'' board President Mel Kleven said. ``It's the first need we have.''
