When it comes to good omens, trainer Bob Baffert seems to have all of the bases covered as he goes for his third consecutive Kentucky Derby victory.
Saturday, Baffert's duo of Prime Timber and Exploit finished one-two in the $250,000 San Felipe Stakes at Santa Anita.
Prime Timber's late rush handed Exploit his first defeat in six career starts. But either way, Baffert's chances are looking good after one of the major Derby preps.
Baffert's Real Quiet and Silver Charm finished second in the San Felipe the last two years, only to win the Derby and the Preakness.
