This may be one of the most rewarding seasons for Cleveland High coach Bill Paden. It might also be one of the most disappointing.
The Cavaliers, who were fourth in the 1998 City Section championships, were expected to improve upon their highest finish ever. Until basketball season came along.
Juniors Malinda Malone and Jessica Cosby suffered knee injuries playing for the Cleveland basketball team. Then sophomore Schquay Brignac was declared academically ineligible. Now, the status of the three City individual track champions is unknown.
