Citrus groves still abound across Ventura County, but an exhibit through May 16 spotlights a bygone era when farmers sold an image of California bliss with each crate of oranges and lemons they shipped.
``CitrusScapes: Romance, Art and History of the Citrus Box Label'' is on display at the Santa Paula Union Oil Museum, open Wednesdays through Sundays.
Visitors will see a collection of vintage paper labels that citrus packing houses pasted on wooden crates of oranges and lemons, which were then loaded on railroad cars for distribution all over the country.
