A clear line of sight for planes taking off and landing at Oxnard Airport is the goal of a $1.9 million federal grant to acquire property easements from local land owners.
The grant, announced by Vice President Al Gore and approved recently by the Ventura County Board of Supervisors, allows the county to secure easements that limit structural heights and lighting they say could impede pilots' visibility.
``We've been talking about those a long time,'' said Supervisor John K. Flynn, whose district includes the airport. ``People should not be able to build up tall around the airport.''
