The Congo was home for 33 years to the Rev. Clifford Stabell and his wife, Joy.

It was into that country - then the Belgian Congo, later Congo and Zaire, and now Congo again - that in 1956 they went to serve their first assignment from the board of missions of the American Baptist International Ministries.

Their faith and love saw them through several Congo political upheavals, the births of five babies and the waning of their youth, until they finally came back to the United States to stay in 1989.
