The Florida Marlins insisted on Travis Lee for closer Matt Mantei. They got Brad Penny. That's not necessarily a bad thing, considering Penny is one of the top-10 pitching prospects in baseball. But for a team trying to get a new ballpark by fielding an awful team, the Marlins might have taken a different approach.

Thursday's trade filled a big void for the Arizona Diamondbacks, who already had blown 14 saves opportunities this season. But they held their ground on trading Lee, who has been disappointing this year after a successful rookie year.
