The Lakers played their triangle more like a team of Ed Grimley's than a newly inspired Phil Jackson troupe.
Then again, this was a Thursday in July. Jackson wasn't behind the bench, and even though his signature triangle offense continually sputtered, it didn't matter in this exhibition.
A crew of young Lakers and hopefuls lost to a similar group of Portland Trail Blazers 109-81 in the NBA summer pro league at the Pyramid. Tyronn Lue, Ruben Patterson and Travis Knight were the marquee players for the Lakers, but it was apparent winning wasn't their main objective.
