Major-league umpires expected to get booed when they took the field Thursday night and they were right.
But Dodgers outfielder Gary Sheffield, who has learned a little about getting booed during his 11-year career, said being right is more important than public opinion in the umpires' dispute with the commissioner's office.
``Without unity they don't have a chance,'' Sheffield said. ``Umpires have to stay together in their beliefs. That is how the players have done so well against the owners. The game wouldn't be the same without them.''
