The disclosure Monday that John F. Kennedy Jr.'s plane plunged into the ocean far faster than previously believed triggered speculation among area general aviation pilots that Kennedy might have become disoriented and lost control of the plane.
Radar data released Monday showed the plane dropped 1,100 feet in 14 seconds or the equivalent of 4,700 feet per minute, which is more than three times the rate reported earlier.
``If he got it into a spin or stall, the plane could fall straight down like that,'' said Brent Silva, 36, a 15-year pilot and aircraft mechanic at Van Nuys Airport, the nation's busiest ...
