Will the Pacific Classic be remembered for the horse who wins or the horses who didn't run?
That's up to General Challenge and jockey David Flores.
If any excitement remains in Del Mar's $1 million race, weakened by injuries to a succession of favorites, it resides in the muscular body of General Challenge, the flashy but flighty gelding who faces older horses for the first time today.
A victory would - if it's done in style - revive the ``rising-star'' talk that followed his Santa Anita Derby victory in April.
A victory would make him the first 3-year-old to win the Pacific Classic - or ...
