It has been called the greatest art collection assembled since World War II, and perhaps the finest anywhere west of Chicago.
But in Los Angeles, where aggressive self-promotion usually trumps understated achievement, the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena also has been regarded as something of a reclusive oddity - the best, but worst-kept, cultural ``secret'' in town.
Twenty-five years have passed since Hunt Foods magnate and art-world maverick Norton Simon moved his collections of Old Master paintings and rare Asian sculptures into what formerly had been the Pasadena Art Museum on Colorado Boulevard.
