LONDON (FNS) - Nicole Farhi wants to build her women's and men's lines into international labels, but she wants to do it from behind the scenes.
"I don't understand all these demands for the designer to be seen. The clothes should stand by themselves and the person behind them should stay behind," she says. "I think the message comes through the clothes. They don't need any explanation or philosophical piece from me."
She has never held a major fashion show for her label, despite pleas from retailers to do so. Company executives say Farhi rarely gives interviews and never appears in promotional material.
