An early-morning arson attack that drove a Missoula, Mont., lesbian couple and their 22-month-old son from their home has left people across the state shaking their heads in disbelief.
"I was just really surprised that something like that happened in Missoula, just because I consider it a more open town than that," said Trish Sternberg, an employee at the Helena public library.
Carla Grayson and Adrianne Neff were awakened by smoke alarms early February 8. Although someone had apparently broken into their home, poured accelerant throughout, and then set it on fire, the women were able to escape with their son through a back window. At press time police ...
