When the tiny village library was practically bursting with books, the Julie Thurston Library Guild in Constantia went to the bank with the hope of expanding.
But instead of borrowing, they bought the bank.
The guild is beginning the process of renovating the former Fleet Bank at Mill Street and state Route 49 into a library that is much bigger.
Sue Curran, a guild member, said the move will mean that the library will go from 300 square feet to 3,000 square feet.
