STEELWORKERS OPPOSE ICAHN PROPOSAL
PITTSBURGH, April 24 /PRNewswire/ -- The United Steelworkers of America (USW) today released a statement opposing a resolution by Carl Icahn that the steel division of USX Corp. (NYSE: X) be spun off into a separate company.
The non-binding resolution will be voted on by USX shareholders at the company's annual meeting May 7 in Findlay, Ohio.
The statement was approved April 18 by USW local union presidents representing 18,000 USW members employed by USX. The full text follows:
