Mar. 11--Two Democratic lawyers are squaring off in hopes of challenging incumbent Republican Michael Williams for the Texas Railroad Commission, the state's oldest regulatory agency.
Austin attorney Sherry Boyles and Houston attorney Paul Looney are running in the March Democratic primary for the seat held by Williams. Williams, the only railroad commissioner up for re-election this year, faces no challenger in the GOP primary.
The three-member Railroad Commission regulates Texas' energy industry, primarily overseeing oil and gas drilling and pipelines.
