Laird Kirkpatrick, a professor and legal scholar whose books on evidence grace the shelves of almost every lawyer in the state, has been named the new dean of the University of Oregon School of Law.
Kirkpatrick will step into the dean's office this summer to succeed Rennard Strickland, who served five years as dean and plans to remain at the law school and teach. The change of command will take place Aug. 1, just a few weeks before the start of the school's fall semester.
