BRISBANE -- A memorial museum is planned for Brisbane, Australia to commemorate the vital role U.S. General Douglas MacArthur and the United States Forces under his command played in securing the Allied Victory over Japan in the Second World War.

Brisbane was selected by MacArthur as his Australian Headquarters following his departure from the Philippines in 1942 Indeed, the offices from which he directed the war until 1944 were located in a central Brisbane office building and are still largely intact today, including the original fireplace and an autographed photograph of the General.
