Mar. 11--LEMOORE, Calif.-- A natural-gas-burning "peaker plant" that will generate enough electricity to power 90,000 homes is expected to be operating this summer.
GWF Power Systems Inc. started construction on the peaker plant Thursday after it received approval from the California Energy Commission, company spokesman Riley Jones said.
"It should be about a five-month construction process," GWF Vice President Doug Wheeler said. "We expect the project to be in commercial operation by the end of July."
