People living in the countryside of England and Wales suffer less from anti-social behaviour, are less afraid of crime, and feel more positive about their local crime rate and local policing than those living in towns and cities, according to a Home Office report published today.

The Rural Crime Statistics are compiled from the British Crime Survey and police recorded crime figures covering the period 1983 to 2001.
