SISTA Monica hopes audiences leave her shows with the sense that she is continuing the tradition of female blues artists like Etta James.
``My goal is to make a contribution to the people with my music - to touch them in the heart,'' said the singer, born Monica Parker.
Monica is up for Most Outstanding Blues Artist for the California Music Awards. Her self-titled CD ``SISTA Monica,'' on which she wrote and produced most of the songs, is nominated by the National Indie Awards as Best Independent Blues Album.
