The Los Angeles City Council voted Wednesday to approve $1 million to provide a face lift for commercial streets and residential neighborhoods in Van Nuys, with members acknowledging it was time to pay heed to the Valley.
Two council committees had initially recommended slashing funding to Van Nuys by $700,000, but Councilman Joel Wachs said that would have been a mistake given the results of a poll released Monday that showed widespread disenchantment with City Hall among San Fernando Valley voters.
